Removing Wheel Bearing Housing

Information
Do not leave drive shafts hanging from the joint stop. Hold the drive shaft or tie it up if necessary.
- Remove brake cover plate. -1-
Rear brake cover plate
- 1.1 Unscrew screws on brake cover panel. -2-
- 1.2 Remove brake cover plate. -1-
- Use > VAS 6926 - puller set to press in the > Press control value + 10 mm into the wheel hub so that the drive shaft splines no longer engage in the wheel hub.
- Loosen holder. -1-
Bracket on wheel bearing housing
- 3.1 Unscrew screws on holder. -2-
- 3.2 Remove holder -1- from wheel bearing housing and set it aside.
- Unscrew screw -2-

- Release locking lugs -1-
and remove stone guard. -2-

- Loosen shock absorber from wheel bearing housing.
Shock absorber
- 6.1 Unscrew screw on shock absorber. -2-
- 6.2 Remove washers. -1-
- Loosen upper control arms -1-
from wheel bearing housing.

- 7.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connection. -2-
- 7.2 Mark position of the eccentric adjuster -3- for re-installation.
- 7.3 Unscrew screw on upper control arm -4- and counter at nut -5- at the same time.
- Remove front wheel bearing housing.
Lower trailing arm
- 8.1 Secure the wheel bearing housing using > T10149 - support and > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack to prevent it from falling down.
- 8.2 Loosen lower trailing arm from front wheel bearing housing. -1-
- 8.2.1 Unscrew screw securing lower trailing arm on wheel bearing housing -2- and counter at the nut -3- at the same time.
- 8.2.2 Remove spacer sleeve -4- from lower trailing arm. -1-
- 8.3 Pull wheel bearing housing out of the splines of the drive shaft and remove it.
