Replacing Bearing For Trailing Arm (On Wheel Bearing Housing)

IMPORTANT: Bearing is tensioned when pressing it out!

Remove bearing.

1.1 Fit pressure plate T40184/2 on the bearing and make sure that the nubs -1- engage in the grooves -2- .

Information

The bearing is pre-tensioned by pressing in the pressure piece T40184/3 (inner wall of the pressure piece is conical). This is necessary so that the bearing can be pressed into the bearing sleeve.

Install new bearing.

2.1 Position pressure piece T40184/3 on > VW401 - Pressure plate and > VW402 - Pressure plate.

2.2 Using pressure plate T40184/2 , press bearing into pressure piece T40184/3 .

After pressing it in, the bearing must project by approx. 5 mm at the lower side of the pressure piece T40184/3 .

2.3 Position wheel bearing housing on pressure piece T40184/1 .

2.5 Press bearing as far as required into the wheel bearing housing using pressure plate T40184/2 until it is flush with the edge -arrow- .
