Removing Front Spring Strut

Information 

The spring strut must not be carried at the electric plug connection holder.

There is a danger of bending the holder and as a result, the electric plug connection may be damaged while driving.

1. Only for removing the right air-spring strut: 

   Remove air inlet housing cover -1-  .

   1. 1.1 Unscrew nuts -2-  .
   2. 1.2 Remove air inlet housing cover -1-  .
2. Only for vehicles with PASM: 

   Disconnect electric plug connection for PASM -1-  .

   1. 2.1 Disengage electric plug connection for PASM -1-  from the holder -2-  .
   2. 2.2 Release and disconnect electric plug connection for PASM -1-  .
3. Remove front spring strut -1-  .

   Front spring strut and mounting saddle

   1. 3.1 Unscrew screws securing mounting saddle to body -2-  .
   2. 3.2 Remove front spring strut -1-  together with mounting saddle -3-  by pulling it downwards.

   Information 

   Recommendation for workshops replacing shock absorbers/spring dampers:

   • Dampers can be replaced separately up to a mileage of 30, 000 km or 3 years. 
   • If the mileage is > 30, 000 km or the components are more than 3 years old, we recommend replacing them in pairs.
