Programming Remote Control (Hand-Held Transmitter)

NOTIFICATION 

CAUTION: Voltage drop 
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Risk of damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming 
    1. → Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
    2. → Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
    3. → Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A to the vehicle battery.

Information 

CAUTION:
  • All remote controls (keys) are required for teaching a DME, rear-end electronics (rear BCM), electronic steering lock (ELV) control unit for example, or for teaching remote controls (keys). 
  • Remote controls (keys) that are not taught during this teaching procedure will no longer be recognised by the vehicle. 

Information 

CAUTION: The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.
The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester. 
  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the vehicle type if required.
  3. In the overview,  press F7 to switch to the Additional menu.  The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears.

    Press F11 to continue.

  4. Engine immobiliser start-up  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
  5. Enter the PPN user name and password.  Press F12 to continue.
  6. The Tester displays the message: Login successful.  Press F12 to continue.
  7. Follow the instructions on the Tester. Press F12 to continue.
  8. Enter the repair order number. Press F12 to continue.
  9. The vehicle identification number is displayed. Change it if necessary.
  10. Follow the instructions on the Tester. Press F12 to continue.
  11. Press F11 to return to the overview. 
  12. Read out the fault memory  and erase it if necessary.
  13. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
  14. Lock, open and start the vehicle using all remote controls.
