Replacing Switch Console

NOTIFICATION 

CAUTION: Voltage drop 
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Risk of damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming 
    1. → Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
    2. → Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
    3. → Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A to the vehicle battery.

Information 

CAUTION: The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.
The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester. 
  1. Connect the PIWIS Tester to the vehicle and start the PIWIS Tester. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the vehicle type if required.
  3. Select the Air conditioning  control unit in the overview.  The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
  4. Coding/programming  must be selected.
  5. Automatic coding  must now be selected. Press F12 to start.
  6. The Tester displays the message Coding completed successfully. 
  7. Select Maintenance/repairs  and press F12.
  8. Automatic addressing of LIN servo motors  must be selected. Press F12 to continue and then press F8 to start.
  9. Teach flap limit stops of LIN servo motors  must be selected. Press F12 to continue and then press F8 to start.
  10. Drive links/checks  must be selected.
  11. Air-conditioning compressor  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.

    Information 

    CAUTION:
    • The Compressor run-in function can only be carried out when the engine is running. 
    • Preconditions for compressor run-in can be found in  > 9900 - PIWIS Tester 3 by - selecting the Compressor run-in function in the air conditioning control unit and pressing F1. 
    • Specifications in> 9900 - PIWIS Tester 3  have priority and take precedence over the specifications in the description.
    • If the Compressor run-in function cannot be activated, then the Reset compressor run-in function must be carried out first. 
    • Then start the Compressor run-in function again. 
  12. Start the engine.
  13. Reset compressor run-in  must now be selected. Press F12 to continue and then press F8 to start.
    1. 13.1  A compressor run-in remaining time of 150 s  must be set.
  14. Compressor run-in  must be selected. Press F12 to continue and then press F8 to start.
  15. Read out fault memory and erase it if necessary.
  16. Check the function of the switch console during a test drive and read out the fault memory.
