Loosening Main Wire Harness In Passenger Compartment At The Right

NOTIFICATION 

Incorrect handling of main wire harness 

• Risk of damage to lines 

  → The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.

  → The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.

  → If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

NOTIFICATION 

Incorrect handling of optical waveguides 

• Risk of damage to optical waveguide 

  → Observe the requirements for working with and installing optical waveguides.

1. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on gateway control unit.

   > 903519 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING GATEWAY CONTROL UNIT

2. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on fuel pump control unit.

   > 207019 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR FUEL PUMP

3. Only for vehicles with auxiliary heating:

   Disconnect electric plug connection on fuel pump and expose electric line.

   > 824519 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING FUEL PUMP

4. Only for vehicles with KESSY: 

   Disconnect electric plug connection for KESSY/PAS antenna at the right door entry guard and expose electric line.

   > 966719 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING KESSY/PAS ANTENNA

5. Screw off fastening nut -1-  and remove ground lines -2-  from ground point.

6. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on airbag sensor on inner wheel arch at the rear right.

   > 695119 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIRBAG SENSOR

7. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on front passenger-side three-point belt.

   > 691119 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT THREE-POINT BELT

8. Disconnect electric plug connection on B-pillar -2-  .

   1. 8.1 Lever up the locking mechanism -1-  using a plastic wedge -arrow a-  and detach it.
   2. 8.2 Release electric plug connection -2-  (-arrows b-  ) and press it into the B-pillar.
9. Remove sound absorber -1-  on wire harness for front right door.

10. Disconnect electric plug connection on A-pillar -2-  .

    1. 10.1 Lever up the locking mechanism -1-  using a plastic wedge -arrow a-  and detach it.
    2. 10.2 Release electric plug connection -2-  (-arrows b-  ) and press it into the A-pillar.
11. Disconnect ground straps.

    1. 11.1 Release and unplug electric plug connections -1-  .
    2. 11.2 Screw off fastening nut -2-  and remove ground lines from the ground point.
12. Loosen connector bracket -1-  under the passenger's seat.

    1. 12.1 Screw off fastening nut -2-  and remove connector bracket -1-  to the rear.
    2. 12.2 Screw off fastening nut -3-  and remove ground line from ground point.
13. Disconnect electric plug connection on airbag triggering unit.

14. Screw off fastening nuts -1-  and remove ground lines at ground points.

15. Unclip main wire harness in passenger compartment at the right and sub-parts from holders.
16. Press grommets on the sub-parts into the passenger compartment and guide sub-parts carefully into the passenger compartment.
