Loosening Main Wire Harness In Engine Compartment At The Right

NOTIFICATION 

Incorrect handling of main wire harness 

• Risk of damage to lines 

  → The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.

  → The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.

  → If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

Information 

Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!

• Always wear approved work clothes and shoes when carrying out assembly work. 
• Do not remove new parts from ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging until shortly before installation. 
• Do not touch electric pins and plug contacts. 

1. Release electric plug connections on front apron at the right -1-  and disconnect them by pulling them to the right.

2. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on front right airbag sensor.

   > 695119 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIRBAG SENSOR

3. Unscrew fastening nut -1-  and remove ground lines from the ground point in the front right wheel housing.

4. Only for vehicles with air suspension: 

   Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the front right air-spring strut.

   > 433019 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT AIR-SPRING STRUT

5. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the front right disc brake pad wear contact.

   > 463656 - REPLACING FRONT DISC BRAKE PADS

6. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the front right speed sensor.

   > 451155 - Replacing front speed sensor 

7. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the front right level sensor, if fitted.

8. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the right headlight.

9. Only for vehicles with PASM: 

   Release and disconnect electric plug connection -2-  on sensor for body.

10. Remove grommet -1-  on the right from the body.

    1. 10.1 Unhook locking mechanisms for the inner ring -2-  (-Arrows-  ).
    2. 10.2 Pull inner ring out of the outer ring -3-  .
    3. 10.3 Pull grommet -1-  on the right out of the body into the passenger compartment.
11. Unclip main wire harness in engine compartment at the right from the holders.
12. Carefully guide main wire harness in engine compartment at the right into the passenger compartment.
