Setting Blind Rivets

Information

The bore holes for the blind rivets will vary depending on the blind rivets used. Adapt pilot hole and bore hole according to the blind rivets used:

The pressed-out or pulled-out punch rivets and drilled-out penetrated joints can be replaced by high-strength blind rivets during repairs. Contrary to the standard procedure, all riveted joints are also bonded.

  1. Replicate the existing holes on the new spare part and pre-drill to the required pilot hole diameter.
  2. Fit and secure body parts.
  3. Drill through both parts to get the required bore hole diameter.
  4. Countersink the outer body part using > VAS 6957 - 100° countersink  in order to fit countersunk-head rivets.
  5. De-burr all bore holes.
  6. Prepare bonding surfaces and bond body parts.

  7. The high-strength blind rivets must be set using a hydraulic riveting tool. > VAS 6790 - Compact Booster  > VAS 6790/2 - Supplementary Riveting Set
