Loosening Lock Carrier

Information 

When moving the lock carrier, make sure that the hoses and lines are not overstrained.

Disconnect hoses and lines if necessary.

The maximum distance between the lock carrier and front bracket must not exceed 80 mm on both sides.

• The number of fastening screws, fixing clips, plug connections, holders and trim panels can vary depending on equipment. 
• The illustrations for removing and installing the drive mechanism are shown only on one equipment variant and may differ from the actual equipment variant. 
• Some steps must be carried out automatically. 
• Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. 

1. Release connection -1-  , disconnect it and move coolant vent line -2-  aside.

2. Loosen operating cable for bonnet release -2-  .

   1. 2.1  Open cover -1-  .
   2. 2.2  Unclip operating cable for bonnet release -2-  from the bracket and disconnect it.
3. Disconnect electric wire harness at the front -3-  .

   1. 3.1  Release and unplug electric plug connections -1-  .
   2. 3.2  Unclip line bracket -2-  for electric wire harness at the front -3-  .
4. Unscrew screw -2-  on the refrigerant line holder -3-  and release and disconnect electric plug connection for airbag sensor -1-  .

5. Loosen screw-type clamps -1-  and pull charge air hoses -2-  off the charge-air cooler.

6. Disconnect coolant hose -3-  .

   1. 6.1  Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the coolant temperature sensor.
   2. 6.2  Open the hose holder -2-  and disconnect coolant hose -3-. 
7. Unclip line bracket -1-  for the electric wire harness -2-  from the lock carrier.

8. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -2-  for electric fan -1-  .

9. Unscrew screws -1-  on supports -2-  at the lock carrier.

10. Unscrew and remove screws -1-  .

11. Apply markings -1-  , which will ensure the correct installation position of the lock carrier -2-  with respect to the body -3-  during re-installation, on the lock carrier -2-  .

12. Unclip and open side part of upper air guide -1-  and side part of lower air guide -2-(Arrow-  ).

13. Unscrew screws -1-  and screw > T10093 - guide pins  into the bores.

15. Pull lock carrier on transverse strut forward.
