Installing Rear Window

CAUTION: Danger of material damage if specified curing time of adhesive is not observed! In order to ensure that the bonded joint is sufficiently strong, the following boundary conditions must be adhered to: 
  • The vehicle must not be used until the curing time has elapsed. 
  • Curing time: 2 hours 
  • Temperature: at least 10°C 
  • Fixing time: approx. 1 hour

  1. Prepare Porsche 2-component window adhesive.

    • The adhesive has an open time of -15 - min-  , which means that the bonding material must be applied and the component must be affixed within this period of time  .
    • To ensure that the substance is completely mixed, apply a 30-mm long bead of fresh adhesive to a piece of cardboard before processing. 
  2. Apply adhesive on the rear window.
    1. 2.1  Using a bonding gun -A-  , apply 2-component adhesive along the preliminary coat on the primer on the rear window as a triangular bead measuring -X = approx. 15 mm-  .

    Information 

    • Two persons are needed to insert, position and secure the rear window. 

    Information 

    • The removed rear window can be reinstalled if there was no prior damage to the rear window and the rear window was removed without damage. 
  3. Close the rear lid and insert the rear window into the body.

    Rear window

    1. 3.1  Affix suction cups to the rear window.
    2. 3.2  Guide the rear window into the window aperture at the top.
    3. 3.3  Insert the rear window at the sides of the window aperture and lower it.
    4. 3.4  Press the rear window uniformly into the body.
    5. 3.5  Set gap dimension by moving the rear window.
      • 5X00IN Gap dimensions 
    6. 3.6  Secure the rear window to the rear lid at the top with adhesive tape -1-  to prevent it from slipping.

  4. Clean visible areas.
    1. 4.1  Remove any adhesive that has oozed out immediately and clean affected visible areas using cleaning solution -H1-  .
