Removing Shift And Selector Cables

Information 

Shift and selector cables must not be bent or kinked.

1. Disconnect shift and selector cables -1 and 2-  from the gearshift bracket.
   1. 1.1 Mark position of shift and selector cables -1 and 2-  for re-installation.
   2. 1.2 Release bayonet lock -3-  and unclip shift cable -1-  .
   3. 1.3 Release bayonet lock -4-  and unclip selector cable -2-  .

2. Disconnect shift and selector cables -1 and 2-  at the centre console.
   1. 2.1 Release shift and selector cables -1 and 2-  and disengage them from the support bracket on the centre console -3-  .
   2. 2.2 Press rubber sleeve -4-  out of the feed-through element.

3. Remove shift and selector cables -1 and 2-  .
   1. 3.1 Lever off ball joints -3 and 4-  using >VAS 6933 - Disassembly tool  .
   2. 3.2 Release and disengage shift and selector cables -1 and 2-  at the support brackets -5 and 6-  .
   3. 3.3 Guide shift and selector cables -1 and 2-  down out of the vehicle.
