Removing Clutch
- > VAS 6766 - Counter-hold tool-1-
must be fitted.
- 1.1 >VAS 6766 - Counter-hold tool must be positioned on the ring gear of the flywheel -2- so that the flywheel is blocked.
- 1.2 >VAS 6766 - Counter-hold tool must be secured to the transmission flange using a suitable screw -3- and M10 nut.

Information
- To avoid deforming the clutch pressure plate, always loosen fastening screws in several steps and in diagonally opposite sequence.
- This procedure is not required when replacing the clutch.
- Remove clutch pressure plate -1-
.
- 2.1 Unscrew screws on clutch pressure plate -2- .
- 2.2 Remove clutch pressure plate -1- together with drive plate.

- Check components.
- 3.1 Check all clutch components for cracks and damage.
- 3.2 Check friction surfaces on the clutch pressure plate and flywheel for discoloration caused by overheating.
- 3.3 Check drive plate pad for wear, cracks and damage.
- 3.4 Replace damaged or worn components.
- Clean components for re-installation using suitable aids. Make sure that no cleaning agents get onto the drive plate pad.
- 4.1 Clean friction surfaces of the flywheel and clutch pressure plate with brake cleaner or solvent naphtha.
