Removing Clutch Pedal

WARNING: Preloaded or pressurized components 
  • Risk of squashing or bruising

    → Do not reach into the danger area.

    → Relieve the tension on components before starting work.

    → Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.

NOTE: Aggressive fluids
  • Risk of damage to components and surfaces

    → Do not spill fluids.

    → In the event of contact, wash the component or surface with water.

    → Replace components that are already damaged.

Information 

Brake fluid is hygroscopic! Close off all lines immediately using suitable stoppers.

Brake fluid will flow from the lines. Place a cloth under the clutch master cylinder.

  1. Release electric plug connection on the clutch master cylinder -arrow a-  and disconnect it -arrow A-  .

  2. Disconnect the supply and pressure hoses on the clutch master cylinder.

    Hydraulic lines for clutch slave cylinder (removal)

    1. 2.1 Pull off supply hose -1-  (-arrow A-  ) and close it off using a suitable stopper.
    2. 2.2 Release the lock -2-  using a screwdriver -arrow b-  .
    3. 2.3 Pull off pressure hose -3-  (-arrow B-  ) and close it off using a suitable stopper.
  3. Disengage push rod for brake booster (in the footwell).

    Pressing out push rod

    1. 3.1 >T40024 - Unlocking tool-1-  must be inserted ahead of the ball joint on the push rod -2-  from below.
    2. 3.2 Press the unlocking tool together -arrows A-  and separate the ball joint from the retaining clip -3-  (-arrow B-  ).
  4. Remove bearing pedestal screws from outside (plenum panel).
    1. 4.1 Unscrew screws -Arrows-  from above brake booster.

  5. Loosen mounting saddle screws -1-  in the passenger compartment.
    1. 5.1 Unscrew collar nuts -2-  from mounting saddle on brake booster.

    2. 5.2 Unscrew collar nuts -3-  from mounting saddle inside the body.
    3. 5.3 Remove mounting saddle.
  6. Secure power spring assembly -2-  on the dismounted mounting saddle.
    1. 6.1 Press the clutch pedal -1-  slightly -Arrow-  until the clutch power spring axle -top arrow-  is visible through the bore.

    2. 6.2 Insert a suitable cotter pin -3-  into the bore on the clutch power spring axle -top arrow-  .
  7. Loosen clutch master cylinder from the clutch pedal -2-  .

    Disengaging push rod

    1. 7.1 Release retaining clip for push rod -1-  on the clutch pedal -2-  using >T10005 - pliers  (-arrows A -  ) and pull out the push rod -arrow B-  .
    2. 7.2 Turn the clutch master cylinder anti-clockwise by approx. 60° -arrow A-  .

    3. 7.3 Pull the clutch master cylinder out slightly -arrow B-  .
  8. Remove pedal shaft -2-  .
    1. 8.1 Remove retaining clip -1-  from the pedal shaft -2-  using a screwdriver -arrow A-  .

    2. 8.2 Press pedal shaft -2-  through to the left -arrow B-  and remove it.
  9. Remove clutch pedal.

    1. 9.1 Pull the clutch pedal -1-  down -arrow A-  until the clutch power spring assembly -2-  disengages.
    2. 9.2 Turn the clutch pedal -1-  and clutch power spring assembly -2-  (-arrow B-  ) and remove it from the bearing bracket.
