Replacing Transmission Control Unit (PDK) (Not Turbo)

NOTE: Voltage drop 
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
  • Risk of damage to control unit
  • Fault entries in the control unit
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming

    → Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

    → Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

    → Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A to the vehicle battery.

WARNING: The vehicle can move automatically while you are calibrating the transmission control unit (PDK). 
  • The raised vehicle can fall from the lifting platform.
  • Danger of crushing.
  • Risk of damage to or from objects.

    → During calibration, the brake pedal must be blocked using a commercially available brake pedal lock.

    → The parking brake must be engaged.

    → The vehicle must not be raised and must be standing on its wheels.

Information 

A vehicle analysis log (VAL) must be created before teaching the new transmission control unit.

Information 

The instructions in the Tester  take precedence, since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in the Tester  .

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Place original remote control (hand-held transmitter) in emergency start tray.

  3. Select the Transmission electronics (PDK II)  control unit in the overview  . Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F12 to continue.
  4. Create vehicle analysis log according to menu guidance.
  5. Go back to the overview.
  6. Select the Transmission electronics (PDK II)  control unit in the overview  .
  7. Select Coding/programming  .
  8. Select Automatic programming  . Press F12 to continue.
    1. 8.1 The Tester displays the message: Programming was completed successfully.
  9. Select Automatic coding  . Press F12 to continue.
    1. 9.1 The Tester displays the message: Coding was completed successfully.
  10. Read out the fault memory  , correct faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memory.
  11. Switch off ignition, wait 2 seconds and then switch ignition back on again.
  12. Select Maintenance/repairs  .
  13. Select Calibration of double clutch transmission  . Press F12 to continue.
  14. Select Calibration of transmission after part replacement  . Press F12 to continue.
    1. 14.1 Observe warnings, test prerequisites and instructions on the Tester.
    2. 14.2 Perform calibration according to menu guidance.
    3. 14.3 The Tester displays the message: Calibration completed successfully.
  15. Read out the fault memory  , correct faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memory.
  16. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
