Subsequent Work

  1. Install cover for drive belt.

  2. Install pressure pipe; the reservoir for the pump must still be accessible.

  3. Fill the reservoir to the max. marking -1-  .

    Cap with dipstick

    Information 

    A new (PDCC) pump is not  supplied pre-filled.

    This means  : a precisely defined pressure (approx. 2.0 bar/max. 2.5 bar permitted) must be produced on the fluid level in the reservoir following installation (before starting the engine) in order to ensure that a new pump will function correctly. This pressure causes a check valve in the pump to open (at approx. 1.3 bar). The pump can then suck in and deliver fluid.

    If the procedure is not followed (before starting the engine) after installing a new pump or replacement engine, this can damage the pump! 

  4. If the pump was replaced  : Set the defined pressure on the reservoir.

    Cover 9853

    1. 4.1 Unscrew and remove cap with dipstick.
    2. 4.2 >9853 - Cap-1-  must now be screwed on.
    3. 4.3 Connect a commercially available tyre-inflating device -2-  to the cap and set a pressure of 2.0 bar  .
    4. 4.4 With a pressure of 2.0 bar  in the reservoir, start the engine and leave to Idle for 5 seconds before stopping it again  .
    5. 4.5 Relieve pressure and screw off >9853 - cap-1-  .
    6. 4.6 Fill the reservoir to the max. marking.
    7. 4.7 Start the engine and check the fluid level in the reservoir immediately.

      Information 

      If the oil level drops to the bottom of the reservoir, or if a lot of air bubbles rise to the surface and/or a significant amount of foam forms in the reservoir, air is still present in the hydraulic system. It is quite normal for a few air bubbles to appear in the reservoir immediately after topping up.

      1. 4.7.1 If the fluid level continues to fall, add more fluid until the fluid level remains constant.
      2. 4.7.2 If there is no change in the fluid level, stop the engine and repeat Steps  4.3 to  4.7 (Steps 4.3 to 4.7 must be carried out at least twice!)
    8. 4.8 Screw on cap with dipstick and tighten.
  5. Bleed the PDCC system.
