Draining The Level Control

WARNING: Toxic substances 
  • Danger of poisoning or suffocation 
  • Danger of burns to the eyes and skin 

    → Ventilate the work area well.

    → Never ingest or inhale.

    → Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.

    → Wear personal protective gear.

    → Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.

  1. Open the separating coupling -1-  on the hydraulic line in the wheel housing.

    Separating coupling for front axle lift system

    1. 1.1 Unscrew screw -2-  from the holder.
    2. 1.2 Spread tabs of the separating coupling using suitable pliers and pull out upper line.
  2. Connect filling adapter -1-  to the separating coupling -2-  in the wheel housing.

  3. Connect the Piwis Tester  to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  4. Close the doors and cover.
  5. Select Lift Front Axle → Actuators/Checks → Lift Front End (Empty System)  in the control unit overview and confirm the message text.

    Information 

    Ensure the following during the draining process:

    • Get a second worker to help during draining. 
    • The compressor is always activated when you press F8 to start the routine  >Time approx. 10 s  . The routine can be cancelled by pressing F8 again. 
    • The hydraulic fluid must be drained into a collection container. 
  6. Start draining the hydraulic fluid by pressing F8. Repeat this procedure until there is no longer any hydraulic fluid coming from the system.
