Bleeding The Levelling System (Front Axle Lift System)

Information
Depending on the cause of the fault, it may be necessary to drain and fill the hydraulic fluid for the front axle lift system before or after bleeding the system.
4301IN FAULT FINDING/CORRECTING FAULTS IN FRONT AXLE LIFT SYSTEM
- Connect the PIWIS Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
- Close the doors and covers.
- Select Front axle lift → Drive links/checks → Lift front end (Drain system) in the control unit overview and confirm the displayed message.
- Start lifting the front end
by pressing F8.
Information
- Before draining hydraulic fluid, place a suitable container underneath and use a breather hose if necessary.
- The front axle lift system is bled via the spring force of the coil spring. Do not lower the vehicle using the PIWIS Tester.
- Remove protection cap -1-
and unscrew the bleeder screw -2-
on the actuator -3-
as far as required until hydraulic fluid runs out.
On GT3 vehicles, there is no bleeder valve and the system is bled independently.

- When the actuator is in fully and no more hydraulic fluid runs out, tighten the bleeder valve and fit protection cap.
> Tightening torque 7 Nm (5.2 ftlb.) + 0.5 Nm (0.4 ftlb.)
