Removing Bellows Tor Steering-Gear Housing

  1. Only for right-hand side of vehicle:  Remove TPM control unit -1-  from the front-axle cross member.

    Mounting for TPM control unit

    1. 1.1  Pull TPM control unit off the front-axle carrier. -arrow A- 
  2. Applies only to the left side of the vehicle on vehicles with all-wheel drive:  Loosen additional coolant pump -1-  from the front-axle cross member and set it aside.

    Additional coolant pump

    1. 2.1  Unscrew screws -2-  and remove holder -3-  .
  3. Clean the power-steering gear, tie rod and front-axle cross member close to the bellows.
  4. Remove bellows for steering-gear housing -1-  .

  5. Mounting for bellows for steering-gear housing
    1. 4.1  Remove clamp -2-  using > VAS 6856 - Spring Band Clamp Pliers  .
    2. 4.2  Remove clamp -3-  using a suitable tool.
    3. 4.3  Pull bellows off the power-steering gear.
