Removing Wire Harness For Airbag
NOTE:
Incorrect handling of main wire harness
- Risk of damage to lines
→ The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.
→ The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.
→ If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!
- Always wear approved work clothes and shoes when carrying out assembly work.
- Do not remove new parts from ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging until shortly before installation.
- Do not touch electric pins and plug contacts.

Allocation of lines - see the appropriate wiring diagram.
- Disconnect connector for airbag triggering unit.
- Disconnect the relevant line on the connector for the triggering unit.
- 2.1 Remove connector cover -1- (-arrow A- ).
- 2.2 Pull out the lock -2- (-arrow B- ).
- 2.3 Loosen the affected pin from the contact strip using > VAS 1978/35-33 - Release Tool Set > Line .
- 2.4 Cut off the disconnected pin, insulate the end of the line and tie it to the wire harness.

- Disconnect connector for airbag sensor.
- Cut off the connector for the airbag sensor on the damaged section, insulate the lines and tie them to the main wire harness.
