Removing B+ Line From Transmission Connection Point To Generator

WARNING: Vehicle can fall down 
  • Risk of squashing or crushing 
  • Risk of damage to the vehicle 

    → Do not place any solid objects under the raised vehicle.

    → Ensure that the lifting platform is prevented from lowering.

    → Remove solid objects before lowering the vehicle.

    → Raise the vehicle only at the jacking points provided.

    → The outer jacking points should be used primarily.

Information 

  1. Unscrew and remove fastening nut for B+ line on the generator.

  2. Unscrew fastening nut on starter line for terminal 30 and remove starter line for terminal 30.

  3. Disconnect vacuum lines -Arrows-  , loosen fastening screws -1-  and remove change-over valve -2-  .

  4. Disconnect B+ line from transmission connection point to generator.
    1. 4.1 Release cover -1-  (-arrows A-  ) and open it -arrow B-  .
    2. 4.2 Screw off fastening nut -2-  .
    3. 4.3 Remove cable shoe -3-  from the fastening bolt.

  5. Support the transmission and engine and remove gear support.
    1. 5.1 Support the transmission.
      1. 5.1.1 Position transmission jack -1-  under the ATF pan of the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK).
      2. 5.1.2 Secure Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) with a restraining strap.
      3. 5.1.3 Use the entire surface of the ATF pan as the contact surface so as to avoid damaging the ATF pan. 
    2. 5.2 Support the engine.
      1. 5.2.1 Position transmission jack -2-  under the engine of the vehicle. Make sure that the engine is positioned securely on the transmission jack.

  6. Disconnect coolant vent line.
    1. 6.1 Release both plastic brackets -1-  for coolant pipes and coolant vent line from the tunnel bridge -arrow A-  and pull them off -arrow B-  .
    2. 6.2 Unclip coolant vent line from the plastic bracket -1-  .

  7. Loosen brace plate -1-  and transmission bracket -2-  .
    1. 7.1 Unscrew fastening screws -3-  on the brace plate -1-  and remove brace plate -1-  .
    2. 7.2 Unscrew fastening screws -4-  on the transmission bracket -2-  .
    3. 7.3 Unscrew fastening nuts -5-  on the transmission support.

    Information 

    • When lowering, the engine must not rest on the rear axle cross member. 
    CAUTION: Risk of material damage when lowering engine 
    • Damaged components must be replaced. 

      → Get one or two more people to help.

  8. Slowly lower the engine/transmission unit using the transmission jack.
  9. Detach cable duct for B+ line -1-  on the transmission.
    1. 9.1 Disconnect B+ line -1-  from the cable clip -2-  and loosen cable strap -3-  .

    2. 9.2 Unclip covers -1-  from the cable duct -arrows A-  , remove them -arrow B-  and feed wire harness for starter battery -2-  downwards out of the engine compartment.
