Loosening Rear Brake CALLIPER

NOTE:
Removal of brake calliper
- Paint defects on brake calliper
→ Proceed with care when setting back the brake pads.
→ Protect the paintwork on the brake calliper from damage using a suitable cloth.
- Unclip electric plug connection for brake pad wear indicator -1-
from the holder -2-
and release and disconnect it.

Information
If necessary, remove a little brake fluid from the reservoir by suction in order to prevent an overflow when the disc brake pads are pushed back.
- Loosen brake calliper -1- .
- Set brake calliper down.
- 3.1 Place a suitable base on > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack .

Set the brake calliper down on > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack
and a suitable base.
Information
The most suitable position for suspending the brake calliper in the wheel housing must be selected in accordance with the work to be carried out.
If you do not intend to work in this area, the trailing arms, for example, are ideal for suspending the brake calliper.
- Suspend the brake calliper -1-
in the wheel housing.
- 4.1 Have suitable fastening elements -2- (e.g. tie-wraps) ready for suspending the brake calliper -1- .
- 4.2 Attach fastening element -2- at a suitable position in the wheel housing.
- 4.3
Remove brake calliper -1-
from the wheel bearing housing and suspend it at the relevant prepared position. Make sure not to damage the brake lines on the brake calliper -1-
.
