Install Spreader Device

Information 

• From week 48/2021, only one spreader device/one actuator is installed on the rear left wheel bearing housing on all 992 vehicles with Porsche double-clutch transmission (PDK) apart from GT variants. 
• There is only one spacer/dummy on the rear right wheel bearing housing that does not function. 
• When replacing the right wheel bearing housing, the removal and installation of the spacer is identical to the previous component. 

Information 

• The spreader device (actuator) is fitted on the rear axle wheel bearing housing. 
• If the spreader device (actuator) is to be re-used, secure it in the brake shoe mountings with a tie-wrap to prevent it from turning. 
• The twist lock must not be removed until the brake shoes are installed. 
• The brake shoe mountings must not be twisted. 

1. If using the same actuator again: 

   Clean the spreader device.

   1. 1.1 Carefully clean the spreader device using suitable aids, making sure not to damage the dust boots.
   2. 1.2 Perform a visual inspection of the spreader device. In particular, check the dust boots for cracks or other damage.
2. Install spreader device -1-  .

   1. 2.1 Insert spreader device -1-  .
   2. <2.2 Fit and tighten new screws -2-  .

      >, initial tightening 10 Nm 

      > Final tightening + 60° 

3. Secure electric lines for the spreader device -1 and 2-  .

   1. 3.1 Clip electric line -1 and 2-  into holder -4-  .
   2. 3.2 Connect and lock cable plug for spreader device -3-  .
4. Install brake disc cover plate -3-  (not required on GT3 vehicles).

   1. 4.1 Position cover plate -3-  .
   2. 4.2 Fit screws -1 and 2-  by hand.
   3. 4.3 Tighten screws -1 and 2-  .

      > Initial tightening 4 Nm (2.9 ftlb.) 

      > Final tightening + 45 (33 ftlb.) °
