Measuring Rear Brake Disc - Lateral Runout (Wheel Hub)

Information
The front face of the wheel hub must not be corroded.
The front face of the wheel hub must be cleaned using a fine emery cloth if necessary.
- Measure lateral runout of the wheel hub.
- 1.1 > 9510/1 - Adapter plate-2- must be fitted on the wheel hub. Then, screw in and tighten wheel bolts. > Tightening torque 160 Nm (118 ftlb.)
- 1.2 Secure dial gauge -1- with ball joint arm from > VAS 6079/1 - dial gauge holder for brake discs at a suitable position on the wheel suspension.
- 1.3 Adjust dial gauge -1- from > VAS 6079/1 - dial gauge holder for brake discs so that the dial gauge -1- is touching the outer edge of the wheel hub with slight preload.
- 1.4 Set dial gauge -1- from > VAS 6079/1 - dial gauge holder for brake discs to zero, turn the wheel hub at the > 9510/1 - adapter plate-2- slowly by one full turn and check the deflection of the dial gauge -1- .

- If the lateral runout of the wheel hub is outside of the tolerance range:
Replace wheel hub.

Maximum lateral runout of the wheel hub: > Measured value 0.03 mm

if the lateral runout of the brake disc is outside of the tolerance range, but the lateral runout of the wheel hub is within the tolerance range:
Replace rear brake disc.
