Connecting And Disconnecting Battery

→ Do not rub the battery with a dry cloth.
Information
Switch off all loads and remove the ignition key.
- Do not disconnect the battery while the engine is running.
- Disconnect and re-connect battery with extreme caution.
Information
The battery is located at the front in the radiator tank.
- Remove cover.
Refer to WM, 852219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT SPACE) COVER .
- Unscrew ground strap on the battery:
- 2.1 Risk of short circuit! Disconnect the negative cable -2- on the battery.
- 2.2 Route or isolate the negative cable so that all contact with a ground carrier (e.g. body, battery terminal) is avoided.
Disconnecting terminal clamps
- Connect the battery
- 3.1 Connect the negative cable -2-
to the battery terminal and secure it with the fastening nut.
> Tightening torque 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.) +/- 0.5 Nm (0.3 ftlb.)
