Checking Drive Belt

Information 

• Replace the drive belt if it is even just slightly damaged (even outside of a maintenance interval). 
• If the drive belt must be replaced, it can be cut to facilitate removal.

  1	Drive belt
  2	Generator pulley
  3	PDCC pump pulley/deflection roller
  4	Air-conditioning compressor pulley
  5	Crankshaft vibration balancer
  6	Coolant pump pulley
  7	Tensioning roller for belt tensioner

Information 

• Perform the test on the drive belt while it is fitted. 
• Use an endoscope for testing. 

1. Visually check the condition of the fitted drive belt using the > VAS 6748 - Video Endoscope  and a torch. Check the belt routing on both sides as far as possible.

   If you find the slightest damage, the belt must be replaced.

   Information 

   • Check the pulley in the drive belt groove area for foreign bodies and remove them if necessary. 
2. Check the pulleys for damage and foreign bodies in the running grooves using > VAS 6748 - Video Endoscope  .

   Replace damaged components if necessary.
