Removing Crankshaft Sealing Ring (On Belt Side)
- Risk of engine damage caused by drilling chips
- Risk of damage to the crankcase
- Do not apply pressure while drilling
→ Carefully remove drill chips
→ Drill carefully
- Leaks
→ Never use an abrasive or polishing cloth or brushes with metal bristles.
→ Follow cleaning instructions.
- Danger of chemical burns
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Ensure that there is good ventilation.
→ Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
→ If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.
- Remove crankshaft sealing ring -1-
.
Drilling positions on crankshaft sealing ring
Drill holes in the crankshaft sealing ring -1- at two directly opposite positions -Arrows- using a greased drill bit with ø 2 - 2.5 mm.
Take extractor tip from > VAS 6965 - puller set and screw into one of the bores.
Pull out crankshaft sealing ring -1- slightly using > VAS 6965 - puller set .
Screw extractor tip from > VAS 6965 - puller set into the opposite bore and pull out the crankshaft sealing ring -1- completely and evenly, alternating between the two bores.
- Clean crankshaft flange -1- and crankcase bore.
Crankshaft flange with centring pin
Pull out centring pin -2- , check for damage and replace if necessary.
Clean crankshaft flange -1- and crankcase bore using solvent naphtha.
Check crankshaft flange -1- and crankcase bore.
- 2.3.1 Check crankshaft flange -1- and crankcase bore for damage.
- 2.3.2 If necessary:
Remove traces of corrosion on crankshaft flange -1- and crankcase bore using a metal-polishing pad.
- 2.3.3 If a metal-polishing pad was used:
Clean the crankshaft flange -1- and crankcase bore again using solvent naphtha and leave the components to dry off for 3 minutes.
Insert centring pin -2- .
