Installing Flywheel

NOTE:
Removing and installing flywheel
- Leaks
- Risk of damage to the flywheel and adjacent components
→ Be very careful during removal and installation.

Information
- Check the diaphragm spring on the flywheel for mechanical damage before installing it.
- A damaged flywheel must not be installed!
Information
- Check that the through-bores on the hub of the flywheel are flush with the screw heads.
- Screw heads can damage the flywheel when unscrewing them if the bores are not flush.
- A damaged flywheel must not be installed!
- Only for new parts:
Remove the protective wax.
- Check that the through-bores on the hub of the flywheel are flush with the screw heads.
- Screw two > 9321/2 - centring pins-1-
into the crankshaft flange by hand.
Recommendation: Screw in one centring pin next to the dowel pin.

- Install flywheel -1-

Fit flywheel -1- over the > 9321/2 - centring pins-2- at the dowel pin on the crankshaft and push it onto the crankshaft flange.
Fit new screws and unscrew > 9321/2 - centring pins .
Fit screws uniformly in a diagonally opposite sequence by hand.
- Tighten screws -2-
in diagonally opposite sequence.
> Initial tightening 60 Nm (44 ftlb.)
> Final tightening torque angle 90°

Information
- After removing, installing or replacing the flywheel, perform the "Reset sensor wheel (flywheel) adaptation" function using the PIWIS Tester.
- To actively teach the adaptation, perform an adaptation drive together with another person.
