Assembling Crankshaft

NOTE: Dirt and contamination

Risk of damage to units or components
→ Protect components from dirt and contamination.

→ Clean or replace dirty components.

Assign new connecting-rod bearing shells on the crankshaft according to the marking -2- .

Marking for bearing shell allocation on the crankshaft

1	Allocation of main bearings for upper crankshaft
2	Allocation of connecting-rod bearing
R	Bearing shell with red color marking
B	Bearing shell with blue color marking
G	Bearing shell with yellow color marking

Information

The data matrix code -1- must be facing the outlet side for all connecting rods.

Connecting rod markings

Marking points -2- on connecting rod and connecting-rod bearing cap must be on the same side.

Install connecting rods -1- .

Connecting rod

Insert connecting-rod bearing shells according to their assignment.

Fit connecting rod -1- and connecting-rod bearing cap. When doing so, make sure that the data matrix code is facing the outlet side and the markings on the connecting rod and connecting-rod bearing cap are on the same side.

Screw in and tighten new connecting rod bolts -2- .
Install crankshaft bearing shells.
Assign new crankshaft bearing shells on the crankshaft and crankcase half 1-3 according to the markings and insert into the crankcase halves.

Coat crankshaft bearing shells with new engine oil.
Insert crankshaft into crankcase half.
