Removing Crankcase Half For Cylinders 1-3

WARNING: Preloaded or pressurized components

Risk of eye injuries

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Secure components to prevent them from falling off suddenly.

Remove vibration damper.
> Removing and installing vibration damper .
Remove crankcase half on cylinder bank 1.
Unscrew outer screws -15 to 33- .

Unscrew through bolts -1 to 14- .

> 9590 - Mounting parts must be unscrewed from threaded joint for crankcase half for cylinder bank 1.

CAUTION:
Hot components
- Risk of burns
  → Let hot components cool down.
  
  → Wear personal protective gear.
Remove the crankcase half from cylinder bank 1 with the help of another person.
Heat sealant along the joint using > VAS 1978/14A - a hot - air blower .

Lift the crankcase half at the marked positions -Arrows- using a suitable tool.

Lever positions on crankcase

Push in the handle of a hammer above the oil-pump pressure channels -Arrow- (-2- ) and lift off crankcase half -1- .
