Installing Anti-Roll Bar

  1. Removing cable-tie -2-  if necessary.

    Securing anti-roll-bar mount with a cable-tie

  2. Secure anti-roll bar clamps -1-  to the rear axle carrier on both sides of the vehicle.

    Mounting for anti-roll bar clamps

    1. 2.1 Position anti-roll bar with pre-fitted anti-roll-bar mounts and anti-roll bar clamps in installation position.
    2. 2.2 Screw in screws -2-  as far as they will go by hand (do not tighten!).
  3. Fit anti-roll bar on both sides of the vehicle at the connecting link -1-  .

    Mounting for connecting link (PDCC)

    1. 3.1 Screw on nut -2-  as far as the mounting (do not tighten!) and counter at the joint pin on the connecting link.
  4. Secure trailing arm -1-  on wheel bearing housing.

    Mounting for trailing arm

    1. 4.1 Screw-in screws -2-  until it is in contact (do not tighten!)
    WARNING: Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly 
    • Risk of crushing 
    • Risk of damage to components 

      → Wear personal protective gear.

      → Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).

    Information 

    Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position to prevent warping in the bearings.

  5. Tighten threaded joints in zero position.
    1. 5.1 Raise the wheel bearing housing as far as required using a > VAS 6931 - gearbox and engine jack  until the lower trailing arm is horizontal. > Zero position (shown as an example)

    2. 5.2 Tighten screws for the anti-roll bar clamps -2-  on both sides of the vehicle. > Initial tightening 50 Nm (36.9 ftlb.)  > Final tightening angle + 45°

    3. 5.3 Tighten nuts for the connecting links -2-  on both sides of the vehicle.

      Conventional connecting link: > Initial tightening 40 Nm (29.5 ftlb.)  > Final tightening + 30°  PDCC connecting link: > Initial tightening 50 Nm (36.9 ftlb.)  > Final tightening angle + 50 (37 ftlb.)  °

    4. 5.4 Tighten screws securing trailing arm to wheel bearing housing -2-  . > Initial tightening 70 Nm (51.6 ftlb.)  > Final tightening + 180°
