Installing Upper Control Arm (Rear)

- Install upper control arm (rear) -1-

Upper control arm (rear)
- 1.1 Position upper control arm (rear) -1- .
- 1.2 Screw in new screw -2- , but do not tighten yet.
- 1.3 Screw in new screw -3- and screw on new nut, but do not tighten yet.
WARNING: Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly- Risk of crushing
- Risk of damage to components
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).
Information
Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position to prevent warping in the bearings.
- Move screw connections to zero position.
Zero position of rear axle
- 2.1 Raise wheel bearing housing using lifting equipment (e.g. > VAS 6931 - Engine and gearbox jack ) until the lower trailing arm is horizontal. > Zero position of rear axle
- Fasten upper control arm (rear) -1-

Upper control arm (rear)
- 3.1 Tighten screw -3-
on rear-axle carrier side section, counter at nut -3-
when doing so.
> Initial tightening 90 Nm (66.4 ftlb.)
> End tightening rotation angle + 90°
- 3.2 Tighten screw -2- on the wheel bearing housing.
> Initial tightening 90 Nm (66.4 ftlb.)
> End tightening rotation angle + 90°
- 3.1 Tighten screw -3-
on rear-axle carrier side section, counter at nut -3-
when doing so.
- Lower wheel bearing housing and remove > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack .
- Fasten angle sensor for headlight beam adjustment -1-
.
Angle sensor for headlight beam adjustment to upper control arm (rear)
- 5.1 Position angle sensor for headlight beam adjustment linkage.
- 5.2 Screw on and tighten nut -2-
.
> Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
