Removing Lower Trailing Arm

Information 

> Refer to the appropriate Service Information for 405001 Spare parts requirements for wheel carrier/transverse control arm on front axle - Check component pairing, a mixed installation is not permitted (158/20) 

• On the 992 Turbo, there is a standard change to the lower trailing arm, taper bushing and wheel bearing housing on the front axle to the other standard version of the 992 variants. 
• The threaded connection between the ball joint and wheel carrier has been changed from the M12 thread to the M14 thread. 
• Turbo S vehicles were still built with the M12 thread variant (about 3, 000 vehicles) from the market launch of the model up to (week 46/2020). 
• For repairs to wheel carriers/control arm, always read Technical Information 158/20 for the 992 Turbo S: 

1. Remove cover on lower trailing arm -1-  .

   1. 1.1 Unscrew screws -2-  .
2. Loosen air guide for brake disc -1-  and turn it upwards.

3. Loose holder for angle sensor for headlight beam adjustment -1-  .

   1. 3.1 Unscrew screws -2-  .
4. Loosen lower trailing arm -1-  on wheel bearing housing.

   1. 4.1 Unscrew M12 or M14 collar nut -2-  .
   2. 4.2 Press off lower trailing arm using > 9560 - press-out tool-1-.

5. Loosen control arm -1-  on lower trailing arm.

   1. 5.1 Loosen threaded connection -2-  .
6. Loosen lower trailing arm -1-  to front-axle cross member.
