Information
- Replace O-rings on the cooling system.
- Clean plug connection and coolant hoses before assembly.
- Remove stoppers before fitting the coolant lines and hoses.
- Fit rear wheels.

- Secure drive shafts -1-
on the transmission flange using new screws -2-
. Counter at the rear wheels.

> Initial tightening 40 Nm (29.5 ftlb.) > Final tightening torque angle +110°

- Connect cable plugs -1 and 3-
for oxygen sensors downstream of catalytic converter and route and secure cables.
Clip in oxygen sensor cables at retaining clips -2 and 4- .
Connect cable plugs -1 and 3- for oxygen sensor.

1 Left plug connection for oxygen sensor 2 Left retaining clip 3 Right plug connection for oxygen sensor 4 Right retaining clip - Secure differential pressure sensor -1- at the left and right in the engine compartment.
Fit differential pressure sensor at the holders and clip it in -Arrows- .

- Route and secure control unit -1-
and exhaust temperature sensor lines in the engine compartment.
Secure cables -3- in the holders -4- .
Release and disconnect cable plug -2- .
Clip in exhaust temperature sensor control unit -1- at the holder.

- Connect engine wire harness at the engine control unit (DME) -1-
.
Connect and lock the three front cable plugs -2- on the engine control unit.
The cable plugs are colour-coded and their position on the control unit is indicated by coloured dots.

- Install cover -2-
on engine control unit.
Fit and tighten nuts -1- .
> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)

- Insert cable plug for engine wire harness -1- in the engine compartment at the right and check secure positioning.

- Connect air-conditioning lines -1 and 2-
with new screws and seals in the engine compartment.
Tighten screws -3 and 4- , countering with > 9822 - assembly tool-Arrows- . > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.3 ftlb.) → >

- Fill up coolant.

Check all connections on the cooling system that were opened during removal for leaks.
- Install rear spoiler.

- Install rear apron.

- Install charge air cooler.

- Fit engine-compartment blower.

Connect central connector.
- Add refrigerant for air conditioning system.
870317 DRAINING AND FILLING REFRIGERANT R1234YF - on "Filling"

- Fit all covers.
- On Cabriolet vehicles:
Install support plate.
Refer to the appropriate service information.
- Install cover for underbody.
Refer to the appropriate service information.
- Secure battery ground strap.
- Bleed the cooling system according to specifications using the PIWIS Tester.
- Check engine-oil level and top up with new engine oil if necessary.
- Remove protective covers.
- Perform suspension alignment.
