Securing Engine In Installation Position
- Risk of squashing or crushing
→ Secure components to prevent them from falling down.
- If used: > 9959 - Lowering tool must be removed.
- Raise the engine to installation position.
- Secure engine mount to the engine brackets with new screws -1-
.
Check that the bores on the engine mount and engine bracket are aligned to prevent damage to the thread!
Fit screws via the grommets on the rear carrier at the engine brackets on both sides and tighten them.
> Initial tightening 70 Nm (52 ftlb.) → > Final tightening + 45°

- Install rear axle carrier.

Fit and tighten new screws.
Screw, M12 x 95: > Initial tightening 70 Nm (51.6 ftlb.) → > Final tightening + 180°
Screw, M12 x 110: > Initial tightening 70 Nm (51.6 ftlb.) → Final tightening + 180°
Rear axle carrier mounting
- Secure trailing arm -1-
on both sides to the wheel carrier using a new collar nut and a new screw -2-
.

Fit and tighten screw and collar nut -2- .
> Initial tightening 70 Nm (51.6 ftlb.) → > Final tightening + 180°
Mounting for lower trailing arm
- Connect cable plug for engine wire harness and secure wire harness on the holder.
- Install cover -2-
on engine control unit.
Fit and tighten nuts -1- .
> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
Cover on engine control unit (DME)
- Clip fuel line and tank vent line into the holder and close the retaining clip.
- Connect coolant hoses at the left and right.
- Connect vacuum lines in the engine compartment at the right.
- Connect vent lines to the coolant reservoir.
- Route wire harnesses in the engine compartment and connect all cable plugs.
- Oxygen sensors
- Exhaust flap actuator
- Exhaust temperature sensors
- Secure differential pressure sensor -1-
at the left and right in the engine compartment.
Fit differential pressure sensor at the holders and clip it in -Arrows- .

- Secure oil filler hose to the oil filler neck with a spring band clamp.
- If the engine was lowered by 90-100 mm:
Connect intake manifold -1- and lower moulded hose (on pressure side) -4- to the intake air line and turbocharger.

Tighten new V-band clamp -2-
on the intake manifold.
> Tightening torque 5.5 Nm (4 ftlb.) +/- 0.2 Nm (0.1 ftlb.)

Tighten screw-type clamp -5-
on the moulded hose.
> Tightening torque 5.5 Nm (4 ftlb.) +/- 0.2 Nm (0.1 ftlb.)

Secure holder -1- for hydraulic lines on both sides.

Fit and tighten screws -2-

> Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

Connect air-conditioning lines -1 and 2- with new screws and seals in the engine compartment.
Tighten screws -3 and 4- and counter at the same time using > 9822 - assembly tool (-Arrows- ). > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.3 ftlb.) → >
Air-conditioning line connections in engine compartment
Add refrigerant for air conditioning system.
