Preliminary Work
- Risk of damage to units or components
→ Protect components from dirt and contamination.
→ Clean or replace dirty components.
- Remove engine.
- Removing transmission.

- Remove flywheel

- Mount the engine on the engine assembly support.

- Drain engine oil.
- Remove hall sender.
- Remove exhaust system.
- Remove drive belt cover and generator cover.
- Remove drive belt.
- Remove valve block for vacuum system with vacuum lines.
- Remove turbocharger wit h exhaust manifold and lines.
- Remove shield.
- Remove high-pressure pumps.
- Disconnect positive crankcase vent line and oil filler neck holder on the intake distributor.
Screw on upper holder and vent line
Press together latching ring on the vent line -1-Arrows A- and pull off vent line -1- in -Arrow direction B- .
Unscrew screw -2- on holder.
- Remove intake distributor.
- Remove engine wire harness.

- Remove fuel lines.
- Remove oil filler neck -2-
.

Unscrew screws -1- .
Pull oil filler neck in -Arrow direction- out of the crankcase.
Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
- Remove positive crankcase vent line -1-
Overview of positive crankcase ventilation
Unscrew screw on oil module -8- and disconnect adapter.
Replace O-rings -5- .
Unclip connections -3 and 7- .
Disconnect positive crankcase vent line, unclip it from the holder and remove it.
- Disconnect coolant hoses -1-
from the oil cooler.

Release spring band clamps -2- using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamp pliers and disconnect coolant hoses -1-.
Unclip positive crankcase vent line -3- .
For vehicles with PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control): Pull off hydraulic lines (not shown).
Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
- Loosen coolant collection unit -1-
.
Unscrew screws -2- .

Pull coolant collection unit -1- out of the connecting pipes -2- .

Replacing O-rings.
- Vehicles without Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC):
Unscrew screw -2 and 3-
and remove support with deflection roller

- Vehicles with Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC): Remove pump (PDCC) together with pressure and return lines.
- Removing the generator.
- Remove actuators for camshaft control.
Refer to the appropriate service information.
- Remove coolant pipe feed -1-

Unscrew screw -2- and remove coolant pipe feed -1-.
- Remove compressor.

- Remove the starter.
- Remove heat shield for coolant connection piece -1-

Unclip clip -4- from cross member and move electric line -3- aside.
Unscrew screws -2- .

- Remove coolant connection piece with directional-control valve and coolant pipe.
Lower coolant pipe
Unscrew screws on holder -2- .
Pull off lower coolant pipe -1- .
Remove coolant connection piece together with directional-control valve and coolant pipe.
- Remove belt tensioner damper.
- Remove coolant distributor housing.
- Remove oil cooler bracket with oil cooler.

If necessary, remove oil cooler, clean components by hand and replace gaskets.

- Remove knock sensor.
- Remove ignition coils.

Unscrew screw -2- on that retaining bracket and remove coolant connecting tube -1- .
