Assembling Front Spring Strut
- For vehicles without front axle lift system:
Fit lower spring plate -1-
on vibration damper.
Spring plate, lower
Information
Always pay particular attention to the following when pressing on the actuator:
Position of actuator
Control dimension front lower edge of vibration damper to lower edge of actuator
- Lower spring plate must not be fitted!
- Pressure line connection must be flush with the vibration damper position plate > Position of actuator.
- Press on the actuator until the control dimension -s- of 148.6 mm +/- 1 mm is reached.
Information
Do not fit the stop cap at an angle!
Information
Positioning the lower spring plate
- Position lower spring plate so that the end of the coil spring is positioned clockwise at an angle -X- to the pressure line.
- Align lower spring contact bracket with the pressure line (front axle lift system) at an angle of 45°.
- For vehicles with front axle lift system:
Press actuator -2-
onto the vibration damper -1-
.
Pressing on actuator
1 Vibration damper 2 Actuator 3 Pressure plates (workshop press) - Insert rubber stop -1-
as far as it will go into the bellows -2-
.
Fitting rubber stop and bellows
Information
Explanation of the colored dots on the coil spring:
- Colored dots -1- provide information about the allocation to the vehicle variant and equipment (see Porsche Spare Parts Information).
- Colored dot -2-
indicates the tolerance group to determine whether a tolerance compensation shim must be fitted.
Colored dot -2- yellow : no tolerance compensation shim should be installed.
NOTE: If the tolerance is borderline, a tolerance compensation shim can still be installed during production. Do not install a tolerance compensation shim when installing a replacement spring with a yellow dot!Colored dot -2- blue : a tolerance compensation shim can be installed on the production side or not!
- Fit all remaining components -2 to 10-
on the piston rod (for instructions for installing the tolerance compensation shim -5-
, see information above).

Information
Make sure that the coil spring is positioned correctly at the upper -1- and lower spring plate -2- .
Position of coil spring
- Clamp the spring strut in > VAS 6908 - stationary spring tensioning device
in such a way that the mounting plates of the spring tensioning device are positioned on the spring strut supporting mount. > Front spring strut in spring tensioning device

WARNING: Preloaded or pressurized components- Risk of squashing or bruising
→ Do not reach into the danger area.
→ Relieve tension on components before starting work.
→ Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.
- Risk of squashing or bruising
- Pre-tension the spring strut until the tension on the piston rod is relieved.
- Tighten hexagon nut -1-
using a commercially available open socket-wrench insert (af 21 mm) for example Hazet, number 2593.
Counter at the hexagon nut -2- on the piston rod.
> Tightening torque 70 Nm (52 ftlb.)
- Seal hexagon nut -1-
and projecting part of the piston rod -2-
with Pfinder AP14/4 corrosion protection wax.
Front spring strut
- Relieve tension on the spring strut; there must be no tension on the coil spring.
