Installing Wheel Bearing Housing

Information 

Align spring strut according to the direction of travel arrows -1-  .

1. Fit spring strut on wheel bearing housing.
   1. 1.1  Guide the spring strut as far as it will go into the wheel bearing housing using the position plate.

   2. 1.2 For vehicles without PDCC:  Fit connecting link on the wheel bearing housing.

      1. 1.2.1  Fit fastening nut -1-  (it will be tightened when installed).
   3. 1.3 For vehicles with PDCC:  Fit threaded joint for damper pipe clamp -1-  . (It will be tightened when installed)

      Information 

      • Optimoly HT can be ordered using the Porsche Electronic Parts Information (PET). 
      • The thread of the drive shaft must not be greased!
2. Grease the drive shaft toothing with Optimoly HT.
3. Move wheel bearing housing with spring strut into installation position.
   1. 3.1  Guide drive shaft into the wheel hub.
4. Fit spring strut -1-  on the body.

   1. 4.1  Position nuts -2-  according to the marking.
   2. 4.2  Tighten nuts -2-  . > Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.) 
   3. 4.3  Connect and lock electric plug connection -3-  .
5. Fit lower trailing arm -1-  on the wheel bearing housing.

   1. 5.1  Tighten nut -2-  . > Tightening torque 100 Nm (74 ftlb.) 
   2. 5.2  Seal the threaded joint securing lower trailing arm to wheel bearing housing with wax as shown in -Illustration-  . Use Pfinder AP14/4 for this (see Parts Information)

6. Tighten threaded joint securing spring strut to wheel bearing housing
   1. 6.1 For vehicles without PDCC:  Tighten fastening nut -1-  and counter at the hexagon -2-  on the connecting link.

      > Initial tightening 40 Nm (30 ftlb.)  > Final tightening + 180°

   2. 6.2 For vehicles with PDCC:  Tighten threaded joint for damper pipe clamp -1-  > Initial tightening 40 Nm (30 ftlb.)  > Final tightening + 180°

7. Fit tie-rod ball -1-  on the wheel bearing housing.

   1. 7.1  Tighten nut -2-  . > Tightening torque 85 Nm (62.7 ftlb.) 
   2. 7.2  Seal threaded joint securing tie rod to wheel bearing housing with wax as shown in -Illustration-  . Use Pfinder AP14/4 for this (see Parts Information)

8. Fit angle sensor for headlight beam adjustment -1-  on the lower trailing arm.

   1. 8.1  Tighten screw -2-  . > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.) 
9. ONLY for vehicles with PDCC:  Fit PDCC adapter -1-  on the wheel bearing housing.

   Mounting for PDCC adapter

   1. 9.1  Tighten screws -2-  . > Initial tightening 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)  > Final tightening + 60° 
10. Only for vehicles with front axle lift system:  Close the separating coupling -1-  on the hydraulic line in the wheel housing.

    1. 10.1  Guide top line into the separating coupling until the lugs of the separating coupling are fully engaged.
    2. 10.2  Tighten fastening screw -2-  on line bracket. > Tightening torque 4 Nm (3 ftlb.) 
11. Install brake disc cover plate -1-  .

    1. 11.1  Tighten screws -2-  on brake disc cover plate. > Initial tightening 4 Nm (2.9 ftlb.)  > Final tightening + 45 (33 ftlb.) °
