Installing Lower Trailing Arm
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Move lower trailing arm into installation position.
- Fit lower trailing arm -1-
to front-axle cross member.

- 2.1 Screw in screws -2- as far as they will go (do not tighten!).
- Fit control arm -1-
on lower trailing arm.

- 3.1 Screw in screws -2- as far as they will go (do not tighten!).
- Fit lower trailing arm -1-
on the wheel bearing housing.

- Tighten threaded joints in zero position.WARNING: Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly
- Risk of crushing
- Risk of damage to components
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not rase the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).
Information
Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position to prevent warping in the bearings.

Lift the wheel bearing housing as far as required using lifting equipment (e.g. > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack
) until the lower trailing arm is horizontal. > Zero position

- 5.2
Tighten threaded joint -2-
of lower trailing arm -1-
> Initial tightening 70 Nm (52 ftlb.)
> Final tightening + 180°

Tighten threaded joint -2-
for control arm. > Tightening torque 160 Nm (118 ftlb.)

- Fit angle sensor for headlight beam adjustment -1-

- 6.1 Tighten screws -2- .
- Secure brake disc air guide -1-

- 7.1 Tighten tie-wraps -2- using > VAS 6927 - Tie-wrap pliers.
- Install cover on lower trailing arm -1-
.

- 8.1 Tighten screws -2- . > Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
