Installing Belt TENSIONER
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Clamp belt tensioner in a vice at the hexagon.
Use protective jaws!
- Unscrew screw -arrow-
on the lever.
Damper/tensioner
Information
- When fitting the damper element/tensioner, make sure that the lettering can be read from outside.
- The bellows must be facing upwards.
- Fit new tensioner on the holder with the deflection roller and check installation position.
Tighten screw' (M8 x 33).
> Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
Recommended tools for removing and installing the top screw:
- > V.A.G 1331A - Torque wrench, 6-50 Nm/4.5-37 ftlb.
- Internal Torx bit T50 with width across flats 13 mm from > VAS 6928 - Socket wrench set, 39-piece
- Socket-wrench insert T50 from > VAS 6947 - Ring Socket Insert, a/f 13
- Position belt tensioner from above and secure it with the top fastening screw -arrow-
.
Installing belt tensioner
- Fit and tighten bottom screw -arrow-
on the tensioner. Fit from underneath!
> Tightening torque 27 Nm (20 ftlb.)
Belt tensioner with screws
- Tighten top screw.
Use recommended tool.
> Tightening torque 27 Nm (20 ftlb.)
- Fit and tension the drive belt.
