Installing Crankcase Half For Cylinders 1 To 3

    → Wear personal protective gear.

    → Secure components to prevent them from falling off suddenly.

Information 

  1. Replace screws in crankcase half.

    Use > 9786 - protective sleeve  for fitting the sealing washer!

    Information 

    • The sealing faces of the crankcase halves must be completely free of oil, grease and burrs before applying sealant. 
    • Apply a bead of sealant with a diameter of no more than 1 mm. Always apply sealant to the required area only. 
    • Join the crankcase halves within max. 5 minutes of applying the bead of sealant. 
  2. Apply Dobotech sealant (Part No. 000.043.207.31) on crankcase half for cylinders 4 - 6.

    Carefully apply a continuous bead of sealant -arrow 1-  with a diameter of 1 mm.

    Remove residual silicone in the crankshaft flange area following installation -arrow 2-  .

    Applying sealant on crankcase half for cylinders 4 - 6

    Information 

    • If necessary  , > P221 - restraining straps can be used. Only fix two connecting rods in place in this case. Hold the third connecting rod when fitting the crankcase half. 
  3. Fit rubber sleeves on connecting rods for cylinders 1 - 3 (> 9795 - assembly aid  ) and position vertically.
  4. Fit and grease new O-ring on sealing face of crankcase half for cylinders 4 - 6.

    Information 

    The help of another person is required.

  5. Fit crankcase half for cylinders 1 - 3 on crankcase half for cylinders 4 - 6.
  6. Fit through bolts -1 to 14-  and tighten according to the specified tightening torque and sequence.

    > Initial tightening 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.) 

    > Initial tightening 15 Nm (11 ftlb.) 

    > Initial tightening 50 Nm (37 ftlb.) 

    > Loosening 0 Nm (0 ftlb.) 

    > Initial tightening 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.) 

    > Tightening torque 15 Nm (1 ftlb.) 

    > Torque angle 75° 

    > Torque angle 75°

  7. Fit screws -15 to 32-  for cross bolt connection and tighten according to the specified tightening sequence.

    M6:  > Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.) 

    M8:  > Tightening torque 33 Nm (24 ftlb.)

  8. > 9590 - Mounting parts  for securing crankcase half for cylinders 1 - 3 to the engine support must now be screwed in and tightened.
