Checking Engine-Oil Level

NOTE:
Incorrect oil level
- Risk of damage to engine or catalytic converter
→ Check the oil level regularly.
→ The oil level must not fall below the Minimum marking or rise above the Maximum marking.
→ Only use engine oil approved by Porsche.
Information
- The engine-oil level can be checked on the instrument cluster display or using the PIWIS Tester.
- Any malfunctions in the oil level indicator show up as a warning in the instrument cluster.
- Use the Info function to display the prerequisites for oil level measurement.
Information
- If the oil level is too low, an oil level warning will appear on the multi-function display.
- The difference between the Min and Max markings is approx. 1.3 litres.
- Do not fill in engine oil above the Max marking.
Information
- The oil level is measured when the engine is at operating temperature (oil temperature at least 80°C).
- An oil level check always runs in the background when driving.
Prerequisites for correct oil level measurement using the multi-function display in the instrument cluster:
- Vehicle is parked horizontally
- Switch off the engine when it has reached operating temperature (engine oil temperature is at least 80° C)
- Wait for about one minute
- It is also possible to check the oil level when the engine is cold if the vehicle was parked overnight.
- Check the engine-oil level when the engine is at operating temperature:
Leave the engine running until the engine oil temperature is at least 80° Celsius.
If the check is started before this, the following message will appear in the display: "No information on the oil level is available at present".
Switch off engine.
- Call up the Oil measurement function in the multi-function display.
Information
- The oil level must be between the Min and Max markings.
- Correct the engine-oil level if necessary and check it again.
- Read off the oil level on the segment display in the instrument cluster.
The permitted oil level is between the Min and Max markings.
