General Specifications For Race Track Use

  1. Always check the central lock of the wheels before  using the vehicle in intensive race track operation.

    Procedure in accordance with the appropriate Service Information: 

    • Remove wheel bolts and remove wheels.

    • Check components of the central wheel bolts (wheel bolts, wheel contact surfaces (wheel and wheel hub), check that wheel driver pins are fitted securely, lockable wheel bolt).
    • Grease the conical surface of the central bolt with Molub Alloy Paste (part number for 100-gram tube 000.043.305.08) according to the specifications in the appropriate Service Information  before fitting each wheel
    • Grease the thread in the wheel hub and outer wheel hub with Molub Alloy Paste according to the specifications in the appropriate Service Information 
    • Re-fit wheels according to instructions

  2. Always complete the following steps after  driving the vehicle on a race track:
    1. 2.1  Check individual components of the central wheel lock for signs of wear and replace them if necessary.

      > Central wheel lock: component assessment 

      If necessary:

    2. 2.2  Install new lock nut (M22 x 1.5) securing drive shaft to wheel hub.
  3. Tighten new lock nut on the drive shaft according to specifications for Turbo vehicles. 
    • Step 1: > 1. Step 260 Nm (191.8 ftlb.) 
    • Step 2: > 2. Step + 120° 
    • Step 3: Loosen lock nut by one turn > 3. Step - 360° 
    • Step 4: > 4. Step 120 Nm (88.5 ftlb.) 
    • Step 5: > 5. Step + 120° 
  4. Tighten new lock nut on the drive shaft according to specifications for GT vehicles. 

    > Tightening torque 460 Nm (339.3 ftlb.) 

  5. Note additional maintenance instructions for race track use.
