Subsequent Work

Steering-angle sensor not calibrated or calibrated incorrectly
- Unexpected vehicle handling
- Steering-angle sensor does not function
- Malfunction in steering-angle sensor
→ After working on wheel suspension parts, when replacing the steering-angle sensor, and after changing the wheel alignment values, calibrate the steering-angle sensor using the PIWIS Tester.
→ Keep the front wheels in straight-ahead position on the measuring platform during calibration.
→ For vehicles with electromechanical steering, also re-teach the electric steering lock settings.
- If the previous wheel alignment values (on rear and/or front axle) were changed, the following subsequent work must be performed.
- 1.1 Calibrate steering-angle sensor
- 1.2 Teach power-steering gear
- 1.3 Adjust control unit for distance measuring sensor
- 1.4 If installed: Calibrate front camera
- 1.5 If installed: Calibrate infrared camera
- Teach headlight beam adjustment.
- 2.1 Connect the PIWIS Tester to the vehicle and switch it on.
- 2.2 Switch on the ignition.
- 2.3 Start diagnostics.
- 2.4 Select "front-end electronics" control unit.
- 2.5 Select the Maintenance/repairs tab.
- 2.6 Select "Teach headlight beam adjustment" function and press F12 to continue.
- 2.7 Follow the instructions on the Tester.
