Replacing Control Unit For Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM)

NOTE: Voltage drop 
  • Irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Control unit programming/coding is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming 

    → Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.

    → Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.

    → Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The instructions in the Tester  take precedence, since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in the Tester. 

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Place original remote control (hand-held transmitter) in emergency start tray.

  3. Select the vehicle type if required.
  4. Select the Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM)  control unit in the overview  . Press F12  to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11  to continue.
  5. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
  6. Teach wheel IDs  must now be selected. Press F12  to continue.
    1. 6.1 Teach wheel IDs without driving  must be selected. Press F12  to continue.
    2. 6.2 Wheel IDs unknown  must be selected. Press F12  to continue.
    3. 6.3  Teach wheel IDs according to menu guidance. Read and follow the instructions and information on the Tester.
  7. Switch to the Coding/programming  menu.
  8. Automatic coding  must now be selected. Press F12  to continue.
    1. 8.1  The Tester displays the message: Coding was completed successfully.
  9. Read out the fault memory  , correct faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memory.
  10. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
