Disassembling And Assembling Central Wheel Lock

Information
- Only disassemble the central wheel lock if the cone ring is very stiff and extremely difficult to turn and the grease reservoir has been used up.
- Thoroughly remove old grease and dirt particles.

Information
A circlip holds the cone ring in the central bolt.
- Loosen cone ring -1-

- Disassemble central wheel lock.
The locking mechanism is secured in the central bolt. Never separate it!
- 2.1 Thoroughly remove old grease and dirt particles on the central bolt and surfaces of the individual components.

Replace O-ring.
Information
- Use only Molub Alloy Paste (Part number for 100-gram tube 000.043.305.08) as lubricant for the central wheel lock and wheel hub.
- Re-grease surfaces of the disassembled central bolt (see table).

1 Central bolt 2 Cone ring - Before fitting the wheel, always grease the conical surface with a thin
layer of Molub Alloy paste (see table, item 7).

Make sure that no dirt gets into it!

- Keep the gap -1-
between the thread and locking mechanism free of grease.

Information
If the locking mechanism is stuck, the central bolt must be replaced.
- The locking mechanism must no longer be replaced separately!
Carry out the following checks on the removed central wheel lock:
- Press the locking pin of the locking mechanism approx. 10 mm into the central bolt. When you let it go, the locking pin must snap back by itself!
- The locking mechanism (inside) must turn clockwise (audible click), not anti-clockwise!
- Irregular clicking, delayed locking, skipping or sticking are telltale signs of damage => Replace central wheel lock!
- Function test on locking mechanism and cone ring:

- Check that it is fitted securely and turn the cone ring 360° by hand once.
- Press the locking pin of the locking mechanism approx. 10 mm into the central bolt. When released, the locking pin must snap back automatically -Figure 2 - .
- If this is not the case, -Figure 1- turn the locking mechanism on the inside by approx. 1° to 2°. The pin should then snap back.
- If the locking mechanism still sticks => Replace central wheel lock!
- It must be possible to turn the locking mechanism (inside) clockwise (audible click), but not anti-clockwise!
