Draining Coolant (On The Engine)
- Danger of scalding
→ Let the fluid cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
Information
- Refer to operating instructions for the > VAS 531 011 - cooling system servicing equipment for further detailed information.
- Follow the instructions on the screen of the > VAS 531 011 - cooling system servicing equipment .
- Make sure there is enough space in the DRAIN container. The DRAIN container has a capacity of 28 litres.
- Before starting the service, fill the NEW container with coolant.
- The service hose must never be disconnected from the equipment.
- Open cap -1-
on the expansion tank and remove it.

- Connect the service hose to the coolant reservoir adapter and to the compressed air coupling connection on the > VAS 531 011 - cooling system servicing equipment .
- Position the > VAS 531 011 - cooling system servicing equipment under the connection point to collect the coolant.
- Unscrew drain plug -1-
on the coolant regulator housing.

- Unscrew drain plug -2-
on the coolant guide tube.

- After draining the coolant, fit drain plugs with new sealing rings and tighten them.
Drain plug on coolant regulator housing > Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.) +/- 2 Nm (1.5 ftlb.) .

- Blow out coolant using servicing equipment.
Where necessary, use a > VAS 6675A - funnel or a suitable plug-in coupling to discharge coolant into the > VAS 531 011 - cooling system servicing equipment .
Select Vehicle maintenance in the main menu and select Drain system .
Follow the on-screen instructions and blow out coolant with pressure until only drops of coolant or air flows out.
Follow the on-screen instruction down arrow in Drain system .
This step can be repeated several times.
