Checking The Cooling System For Leaks

WARNING: Hot fluid 
  • Danger of scalding 

    → Let the fluid cool down.

    → Wear personal protective gear.

WARNING: Caustic fluids 
  • Danger of chemical burns 

    → Wear personal protective gear.

    → Ensure that there is good ventilation.

    → Avoid contact with caustic fluid.

    → If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

  1. Check the cooling system for leaks.

    Unscrew coolant cap -1-  .

    Coolant cap

    Fit adapter K65 -1-  on the service tray connection and connect > V.A.G 1274B - Tester for Cooling System-2-  .

    Create a test pressure of 1.8 bar (absolute) using a pump.

    Visually check all hose and line connections for leaks.

    Tester WE 1069 with adapter K65

  2. Carry out the required repair work to seal any leaks you find.
  3. Release pressure on the tester and screw off adapter.
  4. Re-fit coolant cap.
