Removing Purge-Air Line (Front Section)

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials

Danger of fire or explosion
→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.

→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

→ Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.

→ Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

Remove front coolant pipe holder -1- .

1. 1.1 Unscrew screws -2- .
2. 1.2 Unclip coolant pipes.
3. 1.3 Remove front coolant pipe holder -1- .
Disconnect control unit for Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM) -1- .

1. 2.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -2- .
Unclip coolant pipe -1- from the holder -2- .

Loosen restraining straps for fuel tank -1- .

1. 4.1 Unscrew screws -2- .
2. 4.2 Remove cover of fuel tank -3- .
Disconnect coolant lines -1 and 2- .

1. 5.1 Release locking lugs -Arrows- on line brackets -3- .
2. 5.2 Unclip coolant lines -1 and 2- from the line brackets -3- .
Unclip ventilation line -1- from holder -2- .

Loosen purge-air line -1- in the center tunnel.

Purge-air line in the center tunnel
1. 7.1 Release and disconnect purge-air line on the underbody -2- .
2. 7.2 Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
3. 7.3 Release locking lugs -4- on line brackets -3- .
4. 7.4 Unclip purge-air line -1- from line brackets -3- and unclip from holder -5- .
Prepare removal of purge-air line.
1. 8.1 Allow purge-air line to hang down in the center tunnel.
2. 8.2 Lower the vehicle as required so that the mechanic lying on a creeper board under the vehicle can guide the supply line in and out.
3. 8.3 Have a suitable step ladder or pedestal ready beside the vehicle so that your helper can guide the purge-air line along.

Disconnect purge-air line -1- from carbon canister -2- .

1. 10.1 Release quick connector on purge-air line -3- and pull purge-air line -1- off the carbon canister -2- .
2. 10.2 Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
3. 10.3 Unclip purge-air line -1- from holders -4- .
Information

You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step.
Unclip purge-air line -1- from holder -2 and 3- and move it in -direction of arrow - as far as the foam part.
