Installing Purge-Air Line (Front Section)

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials 
  • Danger of fire or explosion 

    → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

    → Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.

    → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

    → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.

    → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

WARNING: Danger of fire due to escaping fuel and hot engine components 
  • Danger of material damage and injury 

    → Only check fuel pressure and delivery rate when the engine is cold.

  1. Position the purge-air line in the vehicle.
    1. 1.1 Insert purge-air line with the plug-in coupling from below in between the foam part and bulkhead and hold it in this position.

    You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step.

  2. Position purge-air line -1-  and clip into holder -2 and 3-  .

  3. Fasten purge-air line -1-  to carbon canister -2-  .

    1. 3.1 Fit and lock quick connector -3-  for the purge-air line -1-  .
    2. 3.2 Clip purge-air line -1-  into holders -4-  .

    Information 

    You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step.

  4. Clip ventilation line -1-  into holder -2 and 3-  .

  5. Fasten purge-air line -1-  to center tunnel.

    1. 5.1 Fit and lock connection point for purge-air line -2-  on the underbody.
    2. 5.2 Engage purge-air line -1-  into the line brackets -3-  and lock the locking lugs of the line brackets -4-  .
    3. 5.3 Clip purge-air line -1-  into brackets -5-  .
  6. Clip ventilation line -1-  into holder -2-  .

  7. Secure coolant lines -1 and 2-  .

    1. 7.1 Engage coolant lines -1 and 2-  in line holder -3-  .
    2. 7.2 Lock locking lugs -Arrows-  on line brackets -3-  .
  8. Secure restraining straps on fuel tank -1-  .

    1. 8.1 Position fuel tank cover -3-  and fuel tank restraining straps -1-  .
    2. 8.2 Screw in and tighten screws -2-  .

      > Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) 

  9. Clip coolant pipe -1-  into the holders -2-  .

  10. Secure control unit for Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM) -1-  .

    1. 10.1 Connect and lock electric plug connection -2-  .
  11. Install front coolant pipe holder -1-  .

    1. 11.1 Position holders for front coolant pipes -1-  .
    2. 11.2 Screw in and tighten screws -2-  .

      > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.) 

    3. 11.3 Clip in coolant pipes.
