Subsequent Work
- Install front-axle carrier.
- All-wheel drive vehicles only:
Install front-axle final drive.
Refer to WM, 398819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ALL-WHEEL FINAL DRIVE
- Install filler flap.
- Install front part of front wheel housing liner at the left and right.
Refer to the appropriate service information.
- Install battery console -1-
.
- 5.1 Plug in electric plug connection on fuel pump control unit at the underside of the battery console -1- and check that it is seated securely.
- 5.2 Tighten screws -2- . > Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
Removing and installing battery console
- Install carbon canister.
- Install air inlet housing.
Refer to WM, 851419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIR INLET HOUSING
- Install the battery.

WARNING: Caustic fluids- Danger of chemical burns
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Ensure that there is good ventilation.
→ Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
→ If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.
- Danger of chemical burns
- Fill in coolant.
- Bleed the cooling system.
190107 BLEEDING THE COOLING SYSTEM
WARNING: Flammable or explosive materials- Danger of fire or explosion
→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.
→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
- Danger of fire or explosion
- Fill in fuel.
- Remove protective covers from the vehicle.
- Install front-axle cross member.
- Install front parts of front wheel housing liners.
Refer to the appropriate service information.
- Install filler flap.
- Install carbon canister.
- Install air inlet housing.

- Install battery console -1-
.
- 6.1 Fasten electric plug connection on the underside of the fuel pump control unit and bring battery console -1- into installation position.
- 6.2 Screw in and tighten screws -2-
.
> Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
Battery console
- Install the battery.
- Fill in coolant.
- Only if fuel was drained:
Fill in fuel.
- Remove protective covers and warning sign.
